LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Walt Disney Studios is set to cut between 200 and 250 posts next week, less than 5% of its strong workforce of 5,000 worldwide.
The majority of the cuts will be in distribution, marketing and production may be affected thereby.
Decline in revenues from home entertainment Division has been cited as one of the causes (consumers are coming to buy movies for rental), and piracy.
But the organizational changes are also factors, such as combining national and international distribution divisions and the growing dependence of Disney, DreamWorks, Marvel and Pixar to fill the film pipeline.
