He said that the breakdown by games would be 775 million for 2014, 1.226 billion for 2016, 963 million dollars for the 2018 games and 1.418 billion for 2020 Olympic Games.

IOC Chief Jacques Rogge said Olympic pedigree of NBC has been instrumental in the decision.

"I can say that Olympic Games really are in the DNA of their (NBC)." We have received three excellent offers. Ultimately we were more impressed by NBCU, that not only has a track record for the retransmission of matches which speaks for itself, but also has a clear and innovative vision where he wants to take the distribution of the games by 2020, "he says.

The United States TV rights agreement is the largest source of revenue for the IOC, and it is the first auction since 2003 when NBC paid about $ 2 billion for the rights to the Olympic Games of 2010 and 2012.

NBC aired a total of 12 Olympic Games, but this will be the first in its new majority owner, Comcast Corp., the largest U.S. cable television company.
