Grammy, producer of Broadway John Cossette died in 54 (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - producer Broadway musical John Cossette, who also followed the footsteps of his father put on stage the Grammy television and other entertainment award specials, died at the age of 54, his family, said.

Cossette has served as executive producer of several Grammy Awards, with price BET (Black Entertainment Television) and the Latin Grammy Award Ceremonies.

He also produced the Broadway musical "Million Dollar Quartet," on the Memphis recording of the origins of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.

"We are deeply saddened to report John Cossette, 54, is deceased." We ask that you please respect our privacy during this incredibly emotional period, "his wife, Rita, and two daughters said Tuesday.

They do not give the cause of death, neither the time or place of passage of Cossette.

Cossette is the son of Pierre Cossette, known as the father of Grammy Awards broadcast for his influence in persuading the major networks of the annual ceremony of the music industry, of the air who died in 2009 at the age of 85.

The Academy of the recording, which is sponsoring the Grammys, describes John Cossette in a statement as a "remarkable over-the-air television producer".

"However, it was warm, easy-going nature, passion for music and the arts and tireless dedication to the Grammy Awards and Latin Grammy Awards which was unmatched," Neil Portnow, President of the Recording Academy and Latin Recording Academy President Gabriel Abaroa said in a joint statement.
