NY Times and LA Times each won two awards Pulitzer (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times were each two coveted Pulitzer Prize for journalism Monday.

The Los Angeles Times won the award of public service for its exposure of corruption in the California town of Bell where officials operated the Treasury to pay large salaries. Cover of the journal led to arrests and reforms.

Los Angeles Times Barbara Davidson photographer won the prize for photography feature for his photographs of innocent victims, caught between the violence of the gangs of Los Angeles fires.

The New York Times Clifford j. Levy and Ellen Barry won the international class to "a human face on the failing justice in Russia system."

David Leonhardt of the New York Times won the commentary Award for "his gracious penetration of America complex economic issues, the deficit of the budget for health care reform."

The Pulitzer Prize honour of journalism, books, theatre and poetry, and are awarded each year by the Pulitzer Prize Board at the Columbia University New York City.

Each winner receives $10,000.

No there was no price for the latest news from this year and the Commission did not explain its decision.

ProPublica, a non-profit news group which last year became the first news service online to win a Pulitzer Prize, this year won the national award for reporting for the exhibition of Jesse Eisinger and Jake Bernstein of the questionable practices of Wall Street that has contributed to the crisis economic U.S..
