Jane Harman takes the seat of the Commission to Newsweek daily beast (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - member of the Congress of the former Jane Harman takes the seat of the Commission of her late husband at the daily beast of Newsweek, the company said Thursday.

Sidney Harman was the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, but his widow is imminent as Director. Barry Diller, the Chairman of IAC/InterActiveCorp, is assuming the title of Executive Chairman.

"I agreed represent 50 per cent of the Harman family interests", Jane Harman, who is currently Chairman and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, said in a statement.

Sidney Harman bought Newsweek in the Washington Post for $1 last August. A little more than three months later, the magazine joined the daily beast, IAC site co-founded by Tina Brown, in a 50-50 joint venture.

Sidney Harman died on 12 April at the age of 92 years.

"The Harman family fully endorsed Sidney vision to save and restore Newsweek and merge with the daily beast." Our family will always actively engaged and dedicated entirely to the success of this business, ", said the statement by Jane Harman.
