The Japanese electronics and entertainment giant also said Friday he plans to testify before U.S. lawmakers at a hearing on the security of the data in Washington on June 2 to examine what is considered the largest breach of Internet security in history.

The company under fire since consulted pirates of personal information on accounts for 77 million of PlayStation Network and Qriocity - of which 90% are in North America and Europe - and stole credit card information.

Video game enthusiasts and security experts both have criticized Sony for the treatment of the incident, which led to prosecutions and cast a shadow over its plans to combine the strengths of its products, materials and content via online services.

The company has apologized to customers of the blackout and said that a range of new security measures had been introduced. Include a better early warning system that could alert the company on the breaches.

In a new letter sent to U.S. legislators later in the evening of Thursday, Sony said it added more than firewalls and introduced policy changes and thorough testing of its systems. But Sony has warned that the new measures might not be enough to fully ensure its networks.

Sony "no security system is absolutely foolproof, and changing conditions in the future can secure a currently secure environment less," said the letter signed by Kazuo Hirai, the head of Sony Computer Entertainment, society games unit.

Charles Bronson estate continues to Warner Bros. and MGM profits (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - the estate of actor Charles Bronson has sued Warner Bros. and MGM claiming the studios do not have to pay the benefits of two films of the 1970s success.

Larry Martindale, trustee of the estate of the late actor, says in a trial today in Los Angeles Superior Court that a 1975 treat for the Warner Bros. "St. Ives" film Bronson and a contract of 1976 for the production of MGM "telefon" provided the actor with 10-15% of "gross revenue" and "gross film rental." The costume explains the Bronson estate recently conducted an audit of the films that showed a significant underreporting of income.

More specifically, the estate of Bronson target studios "insufficient allocation of revenues generated by television sale and only 20% of the gross revenue for home video and DVD reporting sales."

The calculation of the video is a particular sore spot for Hollywood talent. In the end of the 1970s, as the VHS and Betamax were becoming important markets, talent guilds have agreed to accept the calculations would be made of the participation of profit studio based on 20 per cent of the revenues generated.

But Bronson succession claims deals with actor mention not the computation of 20 per cent, providing instead that the studios "are required to include the 100 per cent of the gross revenue of the exploitation of the video at home" films to bring in Bronson, who died in 2003.

Warner Bros. and MGM did not immediately respond to requests for comments.

The combination, filed by Nevile Johnson, Douglas Johnson, and James Ryan of Beverly Hills Johnson & Johnson, argues the causes of action for breach of contract, declaratory, accounting, unjust enrichment, money due on the account of the open book, conversion, reporting fraudulent and unfair trade practices. It seeks unspecified damages.

Essay on the future of Globes, reduced to August (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hollywood shows prices are known to be slow, but not if the prosecution who will determine the future of the Golden Globes. Counsel for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Dick Clark Productions will be fighting in the Court of first instance on 22 August.

Last November, the HFPA sued producer of the DCP allegations show that it had breached a contract unilaterally reaching a new agreement of dissemination of eight years for the Globes in secret with NBC.

Originally, there was some concern that the dispute could put the show 2012 at risk because if a new producer to be chosen, he could not reach before a decision was made on the claims of the HFPA. At the time, a December trial date seems more probable, triggering alarms for a gala that is usually broadcast everything just a month later.

But the U.S. District Court judge Valerie Baker Fairbank and the parties have worked hard to make the dispute extraordinarily rapidly (no small feat in the Palace of justice L.A. plugged). The planned trial has been on a record "rocket" for September, but now the trial has been moved to the end of August.

The two parties are storming heaven and Earth to conclude the preparatory phase of discovery of the case. A number of depositions took place or will soon take place, including executives of NBC Universal.

DCP defends the prosecution in its contract with HFPA pointing and saying that the agreement gives "exclusive" and "irrevocable" options keep the Globes. The two parties dispute whether consent on a new broadcasting agreement was necessary, with the HFPA also accusing the defendant of requisition of the Globes of marks and other rights for its own benefit.

Sarkozy Web initiative faces reality (Reuters)

PARIS (Reuters) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy has relaxed its position usually on the regulation of the Internet in a forum which brought together the tech titans in Paris, but the stark divisions remained on everything from the private life of copyright law.

Nicolas Sarkozy, who is infamous among the techies to create a law that calls for to be cut off from the Internet, copyright pirates welcomed the gathering of executives that included Google Inc., Eric Schmidt and Facebook Mark Zuckerberg to help fuel Arab spring and stimulate economic growth.

But he maintained that Governments have a role in the establishment of basic rules to limit abuses and excesses of the Internet, set up a clash with Schmidt, who said that no gain if "some stupid rule" stunted the growth of the Web.

As speakers marched on a stage built in the garden of the Tuileries Gardens in the Centre of Paris, deep rifts between decision makers and the leaders of the Internet became apparent, with little evidence of how they will be resolved in the two-day forum.

A release of project reviewed by Reuters, which is being finalized for release at the end of the forum, suggests that the gathering will be seal deep divisions and make concrete proposals.

The project urge the G8 leaders to adopt an international approach for the protection of personal data of users, but will avoid the heavy issue of intellectual property by leaving largely under the aegis of national Governments.

Copyright has proven one of the questions more source of discord in the forum. Great music executives and publishing groups have argued for better protection of their works, while activists and Internet executives criticise the anti-piracy measures, such as the law against piracy France, as nature crimping open essential Web.

Yochi Benkler, a professor at Harvard University known for championing the ideas of open source, said Governments must be careful on the unexpected consequences of strict rules of copyright.

"You can make the Internet safe for Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, or you can make without danger to the next Skype," said Benkler, referring to the two stars of pop music and the Internet start-up telephony service a success. "We need to choose."

The release of the project attempts to split the difference.

"With respect to the protection of intellectual property... We recognize the need for national legislation and enhanced enforcement frameworks, while encouraging the development of e-commerce goods and content that are respectful of intellectual property," he said.

THE PRIVACY DEBATE

The question of how to protect the users lose control of their personal data or be followed by companies for profit also was the source of division at the forum.

Cultural differences between the United States and Europe were deep, with the Europeans less prepared to waive their right to privacy in exchange for benefits of new services like Facebook and more willing to turn to regulation than their American counterparts.

Privacy issues are moving center stage after the high-profile hack of the network of the PlayStation in a regulatory review in Europe and Sony Corp., which could lead to more strict on the Internet, companies as requirements save their databases and to notify users of violations of data.

The release of the draft does not propose solutions. "We encourage the development of common approaches to national legal frameworks taking into account, based on fundamental rights and to protect the personal data, while allowing the transfer legitimate data, he said."

A delegation of executives from the Internet are set to go to the French meeting of the G8 in the seaside resort of Deauville later this week to present findings of the forum for the heads of State.

Maurice Levy, Executive Director of advertising firm Publicis, which is the host of the Conference, said that the Group did not resolve many debates on the future of the Internet.

"The final document should not be a consensus document," he said. "There may be contradictions." It could present disagreements. ?

Celebrities of life privacy-hungry UK to time Mubarak (Reuters)

By Peter Apps, policy corresponding risk Peter Apps, policy corresponding risk - Tue 24 may, 10: 52 am and

London (Reuters) - Hosni Mubarak in the Egyptian has failed to stem protests by disabling the Internet. The Syria was unable to stop phone mobile video of bloody repression appearing on YouTube.

The United States fought to prevent the spread of cables Wikileaks and the efforts of the Chinese authorities have not quite stopped dissent online.

Now, a selection of British celebrities Palermo who hoped to court dear "superinjunctions" hide Affairs or indiscretions may be the latest victims of the rise of the Internet and social media.

No one knows quite how many of the actors, athletes, business and other have obtained these judgments in recent years to stop the publication of embarrassing or damaging allegations. Estimates range from a few dozen to up to 200.

Only available in the UK but worldwide, theoretically superinjunctions prohibiting media mention not only the details of the case and the identity of the persons concerned but even the existence of the injunction itself.

Breaching the order would someone in contempt of court, liable to an unlimited fine and up to two years in prison.

Integrate media largely organisations - if reluctantly, respected; but in recent weeks a string of identities and sometimes explicit detail fled anyway, largely via Twitter and the wider Internet.

The highest profile, Manchester United Ryan Giggs Football, was Monday finally led by the general public media after a member of Parliament used "parliamentary privilege" for him after tens of thousands of Twitter users had done the same.

"It is the most recent example of social media really let the cat in the bag," said Jonathan Wood, analyst of the global issues for Control Risks of Council based in London. "In a globalized world, control the information in this way gets much more difficult."

"Appoint private Ryan" proclaimed the front page of Daily Mirror Britain. While the details of his alleged relationship remain secret, the veteran player now suffers more the attention of the media should have the history simply launch.

UNSUSTAINABLE SITUATION

Critics have said that allowed effectively orders the rich and powerful to buy the silence of the media. Lawyers feel that a super injunction likely costs approximately 100,000 books. But supporters say they are still valid and of the application.

"Recent events did not away with requests for help protect illegal disclosure of private information,", said Magnus Boyd, a renowned partner at solicitors Carter-Ruck London - for the representation of eager customers of privacy against the newspapers of Britain.

"There is always a value injunctions in appropriate circumstances." (They) shall be granted in exceptional circumstances and only where the Court is satisfied that there is a just cause. ?

But the Prime Minister David Cameron and other senior politicians say a new "Privacy Act" is necessary rather than leaving the issue to the discretion of the courts and judges. He spoke of the current situation created the "untenable" situation by which media could not report on something everyone in the country.

A glimmer of hope that a new UK law could become a broader model European and international regulations, protection of individuals against slanderous charges, often false which could devastate families or businesses.

But others warn that it might still be ineffective. With the crossing Internet borders, Internet sites based abroad may particularly find their way around any national legislation. Wikileaks, for example, already moved locate its servers in countries as the more user-friendly as the Iceland.

It is significant, few of the celebrities identified to date apart from Giggs have much if any recognition name outside Great Britain.

Truly global as figures golfer Tiger Woods, his adulterous Affairs affixed to the media, or the IMF's former Chief Dominique Strauss Kahn would be more difficult to quell the media around the world chat across multiple jurisdictions.

An expert in public relations, estimated it could cost up to $100,000 per month in legal costs to keep a history of mainstream media simultaneously, for example, Great Britain, the United States and the France simultaneously - and even then a website based in another country could always run.

STRUGGLES OF NATIONAL LAW

"National law has much less meaning on the Internet, said wood from the Control Risks." Governments can - that China does - block individual Web sites, but it is difficult to stop leaks of information across. It is also difficult sites such as Twitter responsible for everything that is written on them. ?

Some celebrities are supposed to be to prosecute in the power of Twitter to identify those who broke the superinjunctions and the names of anonymous Twitter accounts. Some argue that the micro-blogging site should apply controls.

"Perhaps the real outlaws here are the platforms such as Twitter that control the flow of information without wanting to take the responsibility to moderate content," said Boyd to Carter-Ruck. "It should be possible to build in a sort of filter to limit the flow of illegal content."

But even the best filters have limits. In its strategy of what some analysts call "authoritarianism in network", China has blocked Twitter and aggressively moderated sites of Chinese language that offers a similar service.

Eager to stop discussion on the implications of the agitation of the Middle East to China, search for blocked authorities from words such as "Egypt" and "mubarak." But they had only mixed success, with some users using the alternative spellings or euphemisms.

Some simply chose designate Mubarak as "Mu-jintao" aggregation its name with that of the Chinese leader Hu Jintao - precisely the connection the authorities wanted to avoid made.

Authoritarian regimes are expected to increase the use of social networking sites to identify potential dissidents for arrest. Prestige journalists who violate superinjunctions are still subject to prison. But stop the broader conversation online may prove hard as stopping malicious word gossip in a Court of recreation office or school.

"The change landscape as we speak," said Kevin Craig, General Manager of the firm based in London, political Lobbying and Relations media (PLMR) "as it happens, it is fair to any social media of police... but that does not mean people should not have the right to privacy." Anyone who thinks that they are a simple answer to this just makes it. ?

Hollywood stars in the Broadway Centre response (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Back Stage) - each year, the head of celebrities from Hollywood to Broadway where they receive much attention for their tour.

Tony Awards, presented on June 12, are the judge ultimate skills of any actor of theatre, famous or not, and many lesser-known artists are concerned that the value of the price decreases as the film stars continue to take their home.

Prestigious broadcast last year discouraged many actors in New York, including Hunter Foster, who started the Group Facebook Give Tony, and back to Broadway! in an effort to combat the effect of Tinseltown. With the group now almost 9 000 members, Foster hopes to restore the ceremony as a symbol of hope for the next generation of artists of the scene.

If the actors in the scene as his sister, Sutton Foster - appointed this year for his performance in "Anything goes" - will disappear for the future of Broadway if the Tony continues to focus on the stars of Hollywood is questionable. Many actors appearing on Broadway - including Al Pacino, a candidate this year for "The merchant of Venice" - begin their careers on the stage, but their mass appeal comes from their films.

"I worked my ass to get there where I am, so I understand that the fight," said Scarlett Johansson, who was one of the four actors in Hollywood to win a Tony in 2010 - BroadwayWorld.com last year. "If someone is cast because they are a name, but they are not good for employment, although, it is very frustrating."

Actors and experts agree, however, that celebrities are required for some producers to finance productions, and famous features creates more stable jobs for New York actors.

List of candidates this year does not have many big names of the Broadway season - including Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Ben Stiller and Daniel Radcliffe. David Sheward, editor in Chief of the new stadium and a Tony voter, blog on how the shortage of candidates of the famous may be a response by the Nominating Committee to the reaction of last year.

However, Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of the Broadway League, which presents the awards with the American Theatre Wing, said that there was no correlation between the response of the last year and year this.

"If you look at the shows, most of the people who have good reviews is designated," said Saint-Martin, who is also awards administration Committee, which oversees the nomination process. "People whose reviews were not as good for either the show or the individual, perhaps not.".

A star may be an economic necessity for a Broadway show, and Michael Riedel, columnist theater in New York Post and host of "Theatre Talk of the PBS", does not believe that take stars Hollywood jobs from New York actors. "If you did not have these celebrities, many of these shows would not produced," he said. "All these shows have people in them are not of movie stars and they all work."

CRUSADERS

A Tony represents the Holy Grail for a theatre actor and can significantly increase the career of an artist, while the film and television actors are already honored with awards like Oscars and Emmys. Recognized widely actors toeloop in and secured an appointment of Tony can be upsetting to some, said Garrett Eisler blog the Playgoer, there are a limited spots.

According to Eisler, stars led sales of Broadway tickets throughout history, but "" what has changed is the definition of who is a star." In the 1950s and 1960s, the names of ticketing were Robert Preston, Rex Harrison and Zero Mostel, who had some fame film but whose primary medium was the scene. "A Broadway star could really be a star," Eisler said, acknowledging that Patti LuPone is one of the few that fits this Bill today. "Now you may not be a star unless you're a star in Hollywood".

Internet democratises entertainment, and an artist of the scene will never receive the same audience size for a Broadway show, another actor will receive for a film or a television series.

"There was a change of generation," Eisler said, noting that the current generation of youth is the first to come of age with the Internet. "Certain stars can become household names without appearing on multiple platforms."

Winner of Tony and veteran of the stage New York Victoria Clark acknowledged his victory for "The light in the Piazza" in 2005 helped launch her career and she turned and a "known quantity". Her role as mother superior in "Sister Act this year, the," for which it is named, came to him in part because of his name and connections, as it did through his previous work.

"Could have been Jerry Zaks after anybody aged 45 to 80 for this part," she said, referring to the Director of the show. "There is a message to our administration: people who you supported when you began your career and to return to these people and give them a shot."

Celebrities coming to Broadway take work away from New York Theatre actors, according to Clark, but also said that the industry should not separate actors in film, television and stage categories. "It is our culture that separates us", she argued. "If we were actors in another country, we all would, without question."

"Fun", revealing reading on ESPN, is a major achievement (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - ESPN was founded by Bill Rasmussen in 1978 with $9,000 on his credit card. Today, it includes six U.S. networks, 46 international ones, a radio network, Web sites, a magazine, even a chain of restaurants. It is a value greater than the entire NFL, or more than the NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball combined.

The object of "those Guys have all the Fun: in the world of ESPN" by Tom Shales, Pulitzer Prize-winning former critical Washington Post TV and James Miller, a former journalist and the Executive of cable, is the "mystery of ESPN rise to stratospheric heights of subterranean depths."

The authors response - pulling all seven times key in the history of the network - is less convincing that just enjoy the history. And oh what a story: greater than nature, salacious gossip, backstabbing and corporate personalities intrigues the canvas of the rise of the cable as an economic and cultural strength.

The authors use the same formula of oral history they used effectively in their bestseller "" Live From New York: a history not censored of Saturday Night Live. "" Except for transitions between sections italicized, the story is told through the block of one of the 550 interviewees - quotes ranging from cameramen to Obama President. It is much more difficult to get rid it seems, probably harder than anything in writing the damn thing yourself.

Quotations flow seamlessly and voices are fresh and dynamic, but there are times you wish the authors would referee competing stories directly, and the book could use a stronger organizational hand: seven lessons get buried in sections, making them seem a little later. Again, the formula of oral history certainly makes more fun book to read (and ideal for the beach) because it is easy to jump.

Familiar figures are outlined with brio. Keith Olbermann is hailed as the anchor of SportsCenter bright and described as "dark" and "a tortured genius." (His familiar, MSNBC?) Chris Berman appears as a pompous blowhard, yelling at Tony Kornheiser and dressing down junior employees. Star rising Bill Simmons is by rebel turns (criticize his corporate bosses), faithful (defend Kornheiser for Monday Night Football) and sparkling (refusing all advice editorial on its column).

But ESPN could be a hard working place. Many of the on-air talent complain bitterly that the owners reject their contribution to the success of the network. an exec said an anchor, "In a perfect world, we would have SportsCenter with robots."

Direct, women employees say that ESPN is struggling to meet rampant sexual harassment. Many employees African-American think it manages race badly, with journalist Jason Whitlock ranging up to now say, "it's almost like you must be a cartoon to be black and have success at ESPN.".

Live executions are also stained as on-air talent. Stuart Gerhl, first President of ESPN, was an alcoholic who treated the network emerging as his personal toy. Editor John Walsh had such poor vision was his face on the screen to see the photo of press. Mark Shapiro, head of polarization of programming from 2002 to 2005, alternatively is leased for famous SportsCentury documentaries and scoffed hiring Rush Limbaugh. Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner boasts that he started to ESPN: The Magazine for crushing Time Warner to Sports Illustrated after Ted Turner, majority shareholder of TW, said: "I will bury you." ESPN is - s. I know cable; you guys know cable! ?

"Embedded in Fun" is the story of the transition from a world dominated by the network to a cable-dominated. More than any other cable network, ESPN has honed the formula to combine double-revenue (subscription and advertising costs) cable with programming marquee to reap huge profits. But, as noted by the Turner, owners of ESPN did not always see what they had. Until 1987, the cities of Cap/magasiné ABC Fox ESPN. Not until that ESPN used the acquisition of a full season of games of the NFL in 1998 to retrieve annual subscriber-rate of 20 per cent of the increases were legends business Eisner and Warren Buffett (a long-time Disney investor, current owner of ESPN) fully seize the immense profitability ESPN. Eisner called the deal "the most important thing done in broadcasting since Bill Paley has stolen the NBC stars all the".

Although only the hits relate to seven lessons, network failures are every bit as interesting. The way that ravaged ESPN ABC Sports - who created the MNF, "wide world of Sports" and Olympics coverage as we know it - is presented as a tragedy. And as network President George Bodenheimer said on ESPN unfortunate incursion in a mobile phone brand, "ESPN is not bulletproof, and the day that we start thinking that we will be a bad day."

"Fun" is an important achievement. The breadth and depth of the interviews makes not only the definitive account of ESPN first three decades, but one of the best books yet on how cable shaped American culture.

Put an end to these restrictions in August, and it should join the Council in the third quarter.

"I have said for some time that once that the company had some of its ducks in a row, they would explore the options," said Kupinski.

Routh in Phoenix said that he, too, was unsurprised by the decision of Martha Stewart living to hire investment bankers.

"" If you are managing and you see this growth over the next two or three years, and public procurement do not, would not consider you the private company, or do something strategic? "".He said.

Once the words Von Trier, made headlines in newspapers and websites in the world to the Board of Directors hastily convened a meeting of "tense" in which it was decided to launch him to the terminating a relationship until then happy with the Cannes film festival.

His melancholy film in competition, however, remains.

The new, announced in a statement by email, quickly widespread and has dominated the event from 11 to 22 May that he reached its culmination.

Opinions vary as to whether the festival had done the right thing or not.

NO JOKE ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST

At Cannes, Jason Solomons, President of the London Film Critics Circle, said that he supported the decision and that it was argued that the organizers could go further.

"I think that the film should thus thrown", he told Reuters.

Solomon Islands said there is a tendency to look at art does not the artist, but that in this case the two things are inextricably linked.

He said "You cannot really joke about the Holocaust, you will need to take seriously these matters". "I am not offended on the level of being a Jew, I am offended on the level of semiotics, not Semitic.

Others took the opposite stance, saying that the issue had become exaggerated.

"It is very hypocritical," said Francois Peyroux, student film at the school of the FEMIS in Paris.

"They were wrong in what he said because he was not politically correct, but for me, is not less objectionable than the yacht parties and thrown here money."

Cannes normally thriving on the controversy and scandal, when Von Trier brought his ultra-violent "Antichrist", sexually explicit at the festival there are two years that prompted jeers at the press screening.

"Von Trier is a genius, he has completely upset each convention in cinema and we need filmmakers like him at the Cannes Festival," said Monsourian.

Moments of controversy are a key element for a memorable holiday with great films, celebrities list and parties non-stop in the palm-lined Croisette waterfront.

But this year, which was hailed as a festival vintage where star power has been able to match the quality of the films in competition, Cannes is in danger of being remembered on a hand and one thing only - exit ignominious Von Trier.

Malone eyes nook in "cheap" Barnes & Noble bid (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - cable TV pioneer John Malone loves a bargain and its a bid on the part of & Barnes Noble Inc. is already be violently to undervalue the largest chain of bookstores U.S. $ 17.

Shares of Barnes & Noble has jumped about 30 percent to close at $18.33 Friday as Wall Street analysts argued that the company was worth more, underlining the growing corner e-reader of the bookseller success as an opportunity to be operated by Liberty Media Corp. Malone they have said that the jump also showed that investors believe that other bidders are bound to come.

Until the Liberty Media offer, the auction process long of 9 months was supposed to be moribund. A month earlier, shares Barnes & Noble had fallen as low as $8 h 45.

Observers of longtime Malone said he would probably not his candidacy by many more, and that the financial opportunity is probably more important than its commercial strategy.

"Malone is likely to see the value of the brand and the franchise and believe they can derive additional value in the business, said analyst Collins Stewart Thomas Eagan.

Malone, 70, is known in the sector media for its tax effective astute investments and holds interests in a wide range of media and active Internet shopping channel QVC, society satellite DirecTV Group and Starz Entertainment. During his run as an operator in the business of cable television, he was known as a ruthless operator and former US Vice President Al Gore he nicknamed "darth vader.".

Apart from the media, this year Malone became private owner no. 1 of the United States with 2.1 million acres of land.

Barnes & Noble, said late Thursday that Liberty Media had offered $ 17 per action, $ 1.02 billion, and that a Special Committee would examine the bid.

Liberty Media, said that the offer is about 70 percent of the bookseller, who will be attributable to his capital of freedom followed by stock. The company said its financial contribution to the purchase, depending on funding, it can get, will be approximately $ 500 million.

Offer freedom is conditional upon the shareholder high and Founder Chairman Leonard Riggio, keeping a participation in the Noble & Barnes, that he built from a local bookstore in New York in a national chain, and stay involved in the operation of the undertaking.

Malone Liberty Media pursues a strategy of recent years to align the cheap in distress related to active media in the hope of making outsized investment returns.

In February 2009, Malone uproot a participation of 40% of Sirius XM Radio by 530 million dollars of loans to the satellite radio company, who was bankrupt. Malone has been rewarded in only a few months after Sirius turn around his company and the issue is now more than 3.5 billion.

STORE CLOSURES

Barnes & Noble, which faced years of decline of sales of the printed book, himself put on sale, in August saying that his actions have been dumped.

Capital market analyst David Strasser Janney called the offer of $17 "insufficient".

"Barnes & Noble has the potential of gains well beyond their previous peak share gains simply by now his current market of 27 and 28 per cent in digital books," Strasser wrote in a research note.

Barnes & Noble operates stores to large 720 surface, but readers have been progressively from digital books in print versions.

A person familiar with the thinking of Liberty Media said that the company was more interested in the corner in the talks, which implies very little interest to keep open stores.

If Liberty Media wants to close the Barnes & Noble stores, it would be easier it was to rival bankruptcy group borders.

Barnes & Noble has approximately 400 renewable leases by April 30, 2015, with more than half for 2012 and 2013. In contrast, the borders, which closed about half of its stores, large-area since filing for Chapter 11 protection was locked of long-term leases.

In 2009, Barnes & Noble has presented the corner to compete with the Kindle e-reader from Amazon.com market leaders. Forrester Research believes Barnes & Noble is now second only to the Amazon e-book sales.

E-books now represent approximately 14% of the sales of the entire industry. Amazon said Thursday it sold e-books more than paper books.

Analyst Switzerland Credit Gary Balter raised its price target for shares of Barnes & Noble to $21.

An agreement with liberty would better equip the bookseller to battle with Amazon and Apple Inc. technology giants, Balter wrote in a note.

"With strong support of a company of media such as freedom, we believe that business digital Barnes will be able to compete more effectively," Balter said. In turn, he added, Liberty would gain valuable business e-book from Barnes & Noble.

Standard & Poor analyst Michael sisters kept its "hold" recommendation and $19 price target. "We believe that there is a strong chance of an improved offer," he said.

Shares of liberty fell 1.47% to end at $17.71.

"Point Break" step of the subject of the parody of a trial (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - If you are staging a theatrical adaptation of the film "Point Break", 1991 and cannot obtain Keanu Reeves playing a federal agent who goes undercover as a surfer, what are you doing? The answer is in part the subject of legal action.

Playwright Jamie Keeling had its own solution to this problem. Feeling that the role should be played by players who are not trained and unrehearsed, Keeling had audience members to try the role by reading from cue cards. The trick was a success and was one of the few items which is a parody version called "Point Break Live!" a success as he toured the nation.

But the producer of the live version, new Rock, has ceased to pay royalties Keeling. He repudiated an agreement with Keeling, taking the position that Keeling had no right to its script because it was based on the film.

Keeling then sued, saying that it registered a copyright on his script with added elements.

In response, new Rock told a New York Federal Court last month trying to Keeling "to subvert copyright claiming an exclusive protected property of a parody without ever get permission for this copyright property derived from the owner of the work that is being parodié."

On Tuesday, the New York federal judge, Thomas Griesa rejected this argument and said that the prosecution could proceed.

You want evidence that the laws of copyright can get fairly complicated when it comes to issues such as the parody? Judge Griesa noted: "Creators of derivative works often save their own copyright - without permission of the original copyright holder - and then pursue those who create works derived later from the same origin, but whose later derivative works are supposed to be too close to the earlier derivative work and thus infringe on the derivative work" "previous".

It is a mouthful, but essentially, this means that a person who creates a parody can pursue someone else who is also a parody.

New Rock claimed that to make a parody was merely a "fair use" to a claim of copyright violation, but judge Griesa has more respect for the kind of parody, saying that parodies are copyrightable in effect as long as they are original.

The next step in the case may be to discover if the recruitment of members of the audience to play Keanu playing Johnny Utah passes gathering. The next step may be staging a live version of this case.

Audiences U.S. treatment of new television shows, who feel old (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - American television audiences are bound to experience a little of already saw this coming season.

As ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC preview more than three dozen of the new TV shows this week, they sought to convince advertisers that they might offer better, programs cooler than the harvest, that they introduced a year ago", which produced some flops like"undercovers"off the coast of the map" and "lonestar."

They can succeed, but it will not be the result of any derogation of proven formulas. Few dramas, sitcoms, and reality shows introduced for the upcoming season - the brief clips and descriptions provided - appear all that much different from what the public came to expect from prime time TV.

Take account of "The X – Factor the Fox," one of the most anticipated new programs for 2011-2012. A talent show which will be broadcast twice a week, "the X factor" has four judges, including Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, offering advice, encouragement and the nastiness to participants with his dream of becoming the next musical sensation. Many hugs and tears will not fail to be included.

"It is like"american idol"responds to a mirror," comedian Jimmy Kimmel joked this week at a presentation by rival network ABC. "I think it's the best idea of 2002".

Or look at "Pan Am" and "The Playboy Club, two other shows unveiled at the presentation"upfront", so named because the shows are introduced and advertising is sold next season." This year, ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS booth for reserve collectively 8.5 billion to $ 9 billion in commitments.

The two "Pan Am," on "The Playboy Club," on NBC, and ABC are dramatic in the workplace in the 1960s Golden, glamour and inspiration hard to miss.

"Call the"mad Men"effect," said Lisa Quan, Director of analysis of hearing to the MagnaGlobal Agency, media and research belonging to Interpublic Group.

There are obvious differences: "Pan Am" revolves around an airliner, "the playboy Club" is set in a nightclub, and "mad Men" takes place on Madison Avenue. It remains to see if a new show can reach the quality of "mad Men."

But ABC and NBC clearly wish to capitalise on the success of "mad Men" and prove that they, too, can represent the attitude and style of the 1960s dazzling start.

"It's all about taking something familiar, something that works, and putting a spin on it," said Brad Adgate, advertising and marketing firm Horizon media analyst. "I think you want to put on quelque chose familiar enough to the viewers that the networks are comfortable, but something that offers something a little different."

LOOK FOR "LOST".

Originality can pay big dividends, if it leads to the next "Lost" or "glee", and not all offered this year is stereotypical. Fox, for example, deploys Terra Nova, an ambitious science fiction drama of Steven Spielberg, and there will be some performances based around enough tales, "once upon a time" on ABC and "Grimm" on NBC.

Still, TV executives have much reason to stick with the familiar. The manufacturing process of a pilot - something of a series of test program - may cost $ 5 million, leaving little room in the budget for experimentation. In addition, find new hits is hard enough without out on a branch; only about one-third of all the new shows are renewed for a second season.

Is not prevent industry from under criticism for trying to do enough hard be original.

"We wanted to be derived from this year, that is why we have picked up all these shows," NBC Entertainment President Bob Greenblatt sarcastically replied that when the question was raised on an appeal of the press. "" "". You listed seven shows that, in your opinion, are derived. so do you want to tell me that I think that they are original and thinking and bold and original? Because I am. ?

Among the other new, if not avant-garde, programs from this season are "Smash of NBC," which will contain the song and dance of the elements that have been "glee" such a hit. NBC "Prime Suspect," based on the popular British series which could be seen on PBS. The Fox Animation "Napoleon Dynamite," based on the film of 2004; and ABC's of funny ladies, an update of a popular television series and film.

There is also the menu typical of sitcoms starring odd - couples, single parents and young adults find their way in major cities. Titles this year include "2 Broke Girls", "suburgatory", "I hate my teenage daughter" and "New Girl".

"All the world from time to time someone will come up with a twist and make fresh," said Quan of the MagnaGlobal. "We like to see them take risks, but not simply with a set timetable."

First solo anchor woman Couric signs off the coast of CBS (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Katie Couric, the first woman in the nation to serve as evening news anchor solo network ended its passage on "cbs Evening News" on Thursday, saying was "an incredible voyage" and "an extraordinary privilege."

The broadcast included interview with Couric with another woman in the history-making, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who became the first former first lady to win elected office when she joined the Senate in 2001.

Couric discusses the speeches of foreign policy of President Obama on developments in the Arab world with Clinton, who also sought the Presidency in 2008.

Clinton also addressed with Israel and the Palestinians and Washington political negotiations to Pakistan following the death of Osama bin Laden in a U.S. military raid.

The show began with a report on accusations of doping against the winner of the Tour of France, Lance Armstrong made by one of his former teammates, Tyler Hamilton.

Other stories reported on an experimental treatment for victims of paralysis, the initial public offer for the professional networking site LinkedIn and the progress of the Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was seriously injured earlier this year, in a mass shooting in Arizona.

Couric has also used his final evening news broadcast, which capped a sometimes troubled term which began in September 2006, to look back on the events and people that she had covered since it assumed the Presidency of CBS anchor.

"It was extraordinary to sit in this Chair privilege," she said, introducing the segment.

He had talks with President Bush, Alex Rodriguez, Clint Eastwood, President of Obama, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and perhaps most memorably, the vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin Republican, which seemed ill-prepared for a large number of questions of Couric.

Clips of segment including also on her reporting on the war in Iraq, forest fires in California, the attempted bombing in Times Square and the last disaster oil spill of summer in the Gulf of the Mexico.

Couric ended the show after editing, thanking viewers "to come along with me on this incredible journey."

"This is the CBS Evening News for tonight." I'm Katie Couric. Good night, "she said."

Couric moved to CBS News after 15 years as co-host of the top-rated morning NBC show, "Today" and to the speaking time of plans to modernize and update the format of network news every night.

Recently, she said that was too ambitious, and it may known more successful to be a traditional broadcast format and introduce changes that gradually.

In the course of the show early days, some observers focused on the style of the Couric and appearance, drawing criticism that male anchors would never have submitted to these details of the surface.

Couric has won several prestigious awards in its relatively brief tenure and scored shots journalistic, but never managed to lift "CBS Evening News" of the third place behind "nbc Nightly News" and "ABC World News".

"60 Minutes" reporter Scott Pelley will succeed Couric, whose contract is until June, on 6 June.

Couric, 54, is supposed to be in talks to develop a talk show.
