"NEW YORK (Reuters) - provider of TV Satellite Dish Network Corp. was sued by Walt Disney and Starz Entertainment to popular films, including"Disney"Toy Story 3"and"Alice in Wonderland country".
Disney brings a hand flat copyright trial, while Starz dish - the second largest U.S. satellite TV provider with more than 14 million subscribers - for breach of contract.
Disney distributes many of its top films suppliers of cable and satellite under an agreement with the cable network Starz Entertainment premium.
The company operator and the theme park of giant media said that he was only given permission to Starz for films with the understanding that Starz would be on a level premium with distributors of air.
In pursuing, Disney claims that, in February, flat began to provide millions of free access, Subscribe to Starz through January 2012 in violation of its agreements with Disney and Starz. The two companies said that they wrote flat in March asking it cease and to refrain from its Starz giveaway, but flat refused to do so.
Starz said that he had received notices of breach of the contracts of several partners due to actions of the flat film studio. Starz said he "pleaded" for flat during months to stop the free offer to assist Starz appease its studio partners.
The majority of the content of Hollywood film on Starz is Disney and Sony Pictures. Sony is not currently a plaintiff in the proceedings against flat.
Disney said the dish shares devalue his films and undermine its strategy "windowing". Hollywood studios and TV show managers to use windowing to try to maximize the value of the content of the offeror to the consumer through differently timed "windows", as the theatre, the premium pay TV and DVD rental.
Flat said that he will vigorously defend its rights to offer for free from Starz.
