NEW YORK (Reuters) - former US Vice-President Al Gore, current TV cable network claimed by Italian satellite of Rupert Murdoch, TV company dropped the network in Italy because he hired new liberal policy anchor Keith Olbermann.
News Corp., which control Sky Italia, said his dispute with the current Italy had nothing to with politics and is purely on money. He said current asked Sky Italia to double the cost of transportation.
But current Executive Vice President Joel Hyatt said Thursday that current Italy asked sky to increase its transport by 2 cents per subscriber euro - about 33% - to a viewer in 2010 ratings increase.
Hyatt said he held talks early settlement agreements with Sky Italia CEO Tom Mockridge words of reaching an agreement in time for a date limit on 7 may, when its previous agreement expired.
"We were told by a very high source of News Corp that the order has come to New York because we hired Olbermann," said Hyatt.
Son of James Murdoch who heads News Corp international operations has recently moved to New York after having been promoted to Deputy Chief of operations.
Gore is currently in Italy and appeared on talk shows and speak against the decision, according to a current TV spokesman.
News Corp said current drive TV figures had decreased, which means that he could not justify the much higher costs.
"Current TV called Sky Italia to double the transportation costs when prime time viewing had dropped by 40% in the last year, said the statement from News Corp."Offer sky Italia is in line with the market and reflects the performance of the string."" This had nothing to do with politics. ?
Sky Italia, said: "no other operators Canal with which the sky is a partner, has never asked sky for such an increase last year." This has led to the decision to not renew the contract. OLBERMANN VS. MURDOCH
A former sport for Murdoch Fox and ESPN, often Olbermann was conservative politicians and had a conflict of long duration with Fox News Corp News.
Olbermann abruptly separate with MSNBC January only three months after he was suspended for the campaign for the US democratic party donations. Olbermann was responsible for the issuance of nominal high of MSNBC "Countdown", which is planned to start next month on the current.
In February, Murdoch asked on Fox Business if he would consider employing Olbermann after his execution on Fox between 1998 and 2001.
